Book Recommendations by Miss Jordan
I was a reluctant reader as a young child and struggled to find fiction books that I could engage with independently. When the first Harry Potter book was released and my friends were struck with Potter Mania, to avoid committing to the long read, I waited until the local library had the cassettes to listen to the stories. I have however always loved the magic of storytelling and looked forward to bedtime stories. One of my favourites was Charlie and the Chocolate factory. I actually won a copy, which became one of my most treasured books, after entering an illustration competition to design a new front cover.
A couple of recommendations:
Jacqueline Wilson: I used to love Jacqueline Wilson books and read most of them as a teenager. I remember sharing and swapping books with friends at school as we read them hiding under the stairs to avoid going outside at break times.
Alice in Wonderland: A magical, timeless classic, still relevant today and loved by children all around the world.
The Little Prince: I read this book as a child and it made me question life on planet earth. I’ve read this book in Spanish very recently and it’s made me do the exact same thing again. I thoroughly recommend for a thought-provoking, yet humorous read for adults and children alike.
