In Reception we have 3 classes, which are RB (Mr Brightside), RH (Mrs Hartley) and RS (Mrs Smith). If you have any concerns, please feel free to speak to any member of staff.

At Templars, we teach Phonics and Maths daily, alongside a Theme lesson which may incorporate one of the traditional foundation subjects, including History, Geography, Design and Technology, Science, Art, Music, Computing or Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE).

Home Learning

In Reception, the only Home Learning expectations are:

• Reading - at least 4 times per week, between 5 and 10 minutes each time
• Numbots - at least 5 times per week, 2 minutes each time

Reading

You can support your child at home by reading lots of books and stories together. Talk about the books and stories in detail, encouraging your children to reflect on their thoughts and feelings about what you have read together.

We use the Learning with Parents platform for recording your child's reading. This does not have to be specifically books we have given for you to share at home, but simply any book or story you have read together. We would love to understand your reading culture at home.

Numbots

The Numbots app is a fun, interactive way for your child to learn, develop and consolidate their mathematical skills, including:

• Counting
• Subitising
• Number bonds
• Multiplication
