School Council elections to be held this week.
We have had a School Council for many years now. Elections are held every year, to elect two representatives, a boy and a girl, from each class from Y1 to Y6.
The school councillors meet to elect a chair, a secretary and treasurer who organise and run meetings throughout the year. They are supported by a link teacher. Our link governor is also invited to attend meetings.
Key Stage One pupils have their own Key Stage One Council meetings and when appropriate send representatives to the Whole School Council meetings.
Class representatives, supported by their class teachers when necessary, lead Class Council meetings where they share information and ask for suggestions and ideas to make sure all children are given the opportunity to have their views listened to.
Our overall aims are to:
· Involve all pupils in decision making in order to give Every child, Every chance, Every day to make Templars a more successful school.
· To give KS2 pupils an insight into how organisations, cities and countries are run by modelling and enabling them to participate in a democratic process.
Today we had our second school council meeting. The children had some amazing ideas to improve our school environment.
The new leaflet will be coming soon, so keep looking to see what we are up to next.
