English- Year 5 will be adventuring in world-famous playwrights by looking at Shakespeare’s Macbeth. They will discover the magic of Shakespeare’s words and characters, whilst crafting their skills to produce their own playscripts. Following this, to complement their Theme work, Year 5 will look at the descriptive detail and imaginative plot lines of famous myths and legends. By investigating notable ones from the past, the children will develop the narrative skills to develop their own myth or legend.
Maths- During the Spring Term, Year 5 will be learning across all areas of the National Curriculum, including: Number and Place Value, Addition and Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, Fractions, Measurement, Geometry, Statistics and Position and Direction. As mathematicians, the children will be developing their calculation skills and applying their learning to a range of problems and puzzles.
Science- Following work on forces, Year 5 will put that understanding into context when they learn about Space. This exciting topic will include learning about the movement of the Earth, Moon and Sun along with understanding how our position of the Solar System affects our experience of day and night.
Theme- Year 5 have an engaging term of cookery, testing and developing their measuring, cooking and evaluating skills. Following this, the children will embark on a journey back in time to Ancient Greece to discover what life was life for those who lived during those times.
