Home Learning When Isolating

Theme - the planner below has some activities to choose from. You can decide how to present them and which ones to do. There is enough work here for two weeks. Complete them on Seesaw or do the work in your home learning book, take photos and upload on Seesaw. Use the links and knowledge organisers to help you.

Think back through your time in class and or what you already know. What can you remember about important people in British History? You could write a list, draw some pictures or create a mindmap.

Remember, in school, we are focusing on: John Henry Newman, Rudyard Kipling, Agatha Christie, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Queen Victoria, Ada Lovelace, Emmeline Pankhurst, Beatrix Potter, Lord & Lady Baden-Powell, David Attenborough, Jamie Oliver and The Beatles.

Click on the link to find out about the subject you are learning about today and why it is important.

Choose from:

History, Geography, Science, Art, D&T, Music

Look back at the knowledge organisers to help remind you of things that you have learnt which might help you with your new learning. We want you to know all of these things by the end of the term.

Pick one of these activities to complete. It might take you longer than one lesson.

Choose a ‘British Legend’, research them and write a biography about their life.

Place our British Legends in chronological order, creating a timeline through history.

Choose a British Legend and create a portrait collage from a variety of materials.

Write a quiz about one of our British Legends (with a minimum of 10 questions) and send it to us to answer at school.

Create a map of the UK and plot the birthplaces of all of our British Legends.

Research and listen to The Beatles.  Create your own radio chart show sharing the Top 5 songs in your opinion.

Create a recipe book of traditional British recipes.

Watch a David Attenborough documentary.

Design and build a habitat for an animal of your choice.

Think about an issue in modern Britain e.g. pollution.  Design an invention that would solve this issue.

Knowledge organisers help you to know things. They show you the key vocabulary and key knowledge for each subject. You will know all of this content by the END of the term or year but you might not know it all yet. Click Autumn below to take you to your year groups knowledge organisers and check what you know already. This will help you with your home learning too.

While you are at home, having fun, keeping active and mindfulness are really important. Try one of Miss McLean's brain breaks when you feel you need to.
