We are a fully inclusive mainstream primary school, and we strive to ensure that all pupils achieve their potential personally,  socially, emotionally and academically in all areas of the curriculum, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, social background, religion, sexual identity, physical ability or educational needs. 

This report gives you information regarding the ways in which we ensure we support all our pupils with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND), in order that they can realise their full potential. 

This provision may change and develop over time.

Who are the best people to talk to about my child’s Special Educational Needs and/or Disability (SEND)? Your child’s class teacher will: • Monitor progress and identify support needs • Plan and deliver additional support where required • Write and review Learning Plans (termly with parents and pupils) • Support staff working with your child • Ensure SEND procedures are followed consistently in class
What different types of support are available for children with SEND?

Wave 1 – Quality First Teaching • High expectations for all • Teaching adapted to build on prior knowledge • Inclusive teaching approaches • Classroom strategies and resources

Wave 2 – Interventions • Small group targeted support • Additional opportunities to close gaps • TA and teacher-led sessions • Focused targets and accelerated progress

How can I let school know if I am concerned about my child’s development or progress? Your first step is to speak with your child’s class teacher. You may also contact: • Miss Finn – SENCo KS2Mrs King – SENCo KS1Mrs Leigh, Mrs Dunkley or Miss Hall – Assistant Headteachers
How will school let me know if there are concerns about my child’s progress? • Teachers monitor children daily • Progress is reviewed through pupil progress meetings • Additional support may be introduced • SENCo support may be sought • Initial Concerns paperwork may be completed with parent views included • Where appropriate, children may be placed on the SEND Register with a Learning Plan
What specialist services are available? We work closely with external professionals including: • Complex Communication Team • Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) • SEMHL Team • Time for You Counselling • Educational Psychology • Occupational Therapy • Physiotherapy • CAMHS • School Nursing • MHST
How are teachers and support staff trained? Staff receive ongoing training including: • ASD • ADHD • Diabetes • Epilepsy • Epi-Pen • Asthma • Speech and Language Development • Additional training linked to emerging needs
How will teaching be adapted for my child? Teachers plan for all learners and may use: • Privacy boards • Pencil grips • Sit-fit cushions • Word mats • Visual prompts • Visual timetables • Time out cards • Movement and sensory breaks
How do we measure progress? • Continuous teacher assessment • Formal review three times per year • National Curriculum expectations • Balance assessment system • SATs at end of KS2 • Termly Learning Plan reviews • Annual Reviews for children with EHCPs
What support is available for parents and carers? • Regular communication with class teachers • SENCo meetings • Information shared from external professionals • Termly Learning Plan reviews • Child & Family Support Worker support (Ms Swallow) • Learning Mentor support (Mrs Parkin and Mrs McDonald) • SEND Coffee Events each term

How do we support transitions?

Starting Nursery/Reception: Home visits and transition booklets

Moving classes: Information sharing and transition resources

Moving schools: Liaison with receiving SENCo and transfer of records

Moving to secondary school: Additional visits and enhanced transition where needed

How can I help my child at home? There are resources available on our website. Please speak with your child’s class teacher for personalised advice and support.
Where can I find the SEND Policy? Our SEND Policy and related documents are available on the school website. Paper copies can also be requested via the school office.
