PSHE at Templars: Confident Individuals, Compassionate Friends, Resilient Citizens

At Templars, PSHE underpins everything we do. Through the myHappymind programme and our Templars Values, we help every child understand themselves, build positive relationships and develop the confidence to thrive—now and in the future. Belonging sits at the heart of our approach: children learn that they belong to their class, their school, their community and the wider world.

myHappymind is taught through five powerful modules that give pupils the knowledge and habits they need to flourish:

  • Meet Your Brain – understanding how the brain works, managing emotions and developing a growth mindset.

  • Celebrate – recognising individual strengths and building genuine self-esteem.

  • Appreciate – practising gratitude to support wellbeing and resilience.

  • Relate – learning how to build and sustain healthy, positive relationships.

  • Engage – setting meaningful goals and staying motivated through challenge.

Alongside this, children learn through the myHappyMind Plus programme, which covers health and wellbeing, relationships and living in the wider world—equipping them with essential life skills, confidence and independence.

Our Templars Values of Care, Respect and Honesty are woven through every lesson and interaction. Pupils learn to look after themselves and others, make responsible choices and contribute positively to their community.

By the end of Year 6, pupils at Templars will:

  • Understand how to manage emotions and stay mentally healthy.

  • Recognise their strengths and feel confident in who they are.

  • Build strong, respectful and empathetic relationships.

  • Make safe, informed decisions in the real and online world.

  • Show resilience, gratitude and aspiration in the face of challenge.

  • Contribute positively to their class, school and wider community.

Our ambition is that every child leaves Templars as a resilient, self-assured and compassionate young person—ready to navigate life with confidence, kindness and purpose.
