At Templars, our Nursery year is designed to give every child the strongest foundations for learning. Across the seasons, children explore who they are, how the world works and what it means to belong to a vibrant, diverse community. Our curriculum is rooted in joy, curiosity and inclusion—ensuring every learner is known, supported and able to flourish.
🍁 AUTUMN TERM – Home Sweet Home: Belonging, Identity and Community
Across the autumn term, children settle into the rhythms of school life and discover the stories, relationships and experiences that help them feel at home. They learn to take their first confident steps as part of the Templars community, developing friendships, communication and independence.
The term ends with children feeling secure, valued and excited to learn—ready to broaden their horizons.
🌱 SPRING TERM – Sow and Grow: Health, Growth, Curiosity and the Natural World
Spring brings a shift towards exploration, healthy living and understanding change. Children deepen their communication and thinking skills as they learn about food, growth, lifecycles and the world around them.
Key Learning Highlights

By the end of spring, children are confident communicators, curious investigators and thoughtful members of their community, ready to apply their learning in imaginative ways.
🌞 SUMMER TERM – Confidence, Creativity and Readiness for Reception
In summer, children take bold steps forward as creative thinkers, problem-solvers and increasingly independent learners. Their confidence grows as they deepen friendships, develop their imagination and prepare for the transition to Reception.

By the end of the year, children know themselves deeply as learners—confident, joyful, imaginative and ready for the exciting challenges of Reception.
