Year Two
Year Two is a year of growing confidence, deeper thinking and increasing independence. Our curriculum is carefully sequenced to build strong knowledge across subjects while nurturing children’s curiosity, character and creativity. Every child is encouraged to achieve highly, explore widely and recognise their own potential.
Below is an outline of the engaging and ambitious learning journey pupils experience across the year.
Autumn Term – Fire, Fire!
Autumn ignites children’s curiosity with a powerful, historically rich theme centred on The Great Fire of London. This term develops pupils’ sense of time, place and community while strengthening essential reading, writing and mathematical foundations.

By the end of Autumn, children have built a strong sense of historical understanding, growing resilience and pride in their achievements.
Spring Term – Trains, Planes and Automobiles
Spring launches pupils into a global journey exploring transport, movement and contrasting environments. This is a term of imagination, investigation and discovering how people travel across our world.

Spring strengthens children’s understanding of a changing world and their place within it.
Summer Term – Dungeons and Dragons
Summer immerses children in the magic of legends, castles, dragons and courageous heroes. This term blends creativity with historical enquiry, fostering excitement and ambition.

By the end of the year, children leave Year Two as confident, articulate and thoughtful learners—ready to take on the opportunities of Key Stage 2.
